    Welcome to Google Maps Community Support Forum & thanks for your post. Regretfully, there is no option to change the unit of measure in the terrain layer. Maps will show the elevation in feet only in the US. Nevertheless, you can suggest the desired feature through the help & feedback route.

    Aug 28, 2020. This is an oddity I've noticed before. Curiously if you try disabling 'Terrain' (tick-box in the Layers panel), before requesting the Elevation Profile, might find you then get negative elevations. For some reason with Terrain enabled it seems to often not show the negative elevations.

  8. Make sure the status bar is checked in the View menu. Make sure the Terrain layer is checked at the bottom of the Layers panel. Without that Google Earth is flat and you will see elev 0 everywhere. If using Windows, make sure the bottom of the Google Earth window hasn't slipped behind the Windows task bar.
