A name suffix in the Western English-language naming tradition, follows a person's surname (last name) and provides additional information about the person. Suffixes always come after the family name, and are also acquired for various reasons. Suffixes are only used in oral communication when necessary, and are also rarely written on the wish of the individual bearing the suffix. The most common suffixes are Sr. (Senior) and Jr. (Junior).
