One of the latest major horse track opened in the United States was the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It first commenced Thoroughbred racing in 1977, but, since 1976, it is primarily a harness racing venue. The American Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association ( TOBA) based in Lexington, Kentucky is a trade organization for Thoroughbred racehorse owners and breeders.
