The Austin Kangaroos football team represents Austin College in college football at the NCAA Division III level. The Kangaroos are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), fielding its team in the SCAC since 2024. The Kangaroos play their home games at Apple Stadium in Sherman, Texas. The 2023 Austin Kangaroos football team represented Austin College of Sherman, Texas. In their first year under head coach Tony Joe White , the team compiled a 1–9 record (0–6 against ASC opponents) and finished last in the ASC.
Tjeerdsma was the head coach at Austin College in Sherman, Texas from 1984 through 1993. He compiled a 59–39–4 record and was the school's winningest coach. Tjeerdsma guided Austin College to three Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships in 1984, 1985 and 1988 and made two trips to the NAIA Division II playoffs.
