James J. Shapiro (1909–1995) founded the Simplicity Pattern Company in 1927 and was its first president. The company was based on an idea of his father's, Joseph M. Shapiro (1888 Russia – 1968 California), a magazine ad salesman. [1] [2] The company at one point was considered part of the NYSE Nifty Fifty stocks.
Until 2008, the college was formerly known as Saint Joseph's College of Early Childhood Education. In 1970, St. Joseph’s Children’s Centre established the first Atlantic Canadian Program in Early Childhood Education. During the years to follow, the program evolved from a three-month course to a ten-month Diploma program.
Tampa Heights Hospital, March 1933, prior to acquisition by the Sisters St. Joseph's Hospital, under construction, undated. The hospital was originally opened in July 1932 [7] by Dr. W. H. Dyer as Tampa Heights Hospital [8] who operated the 1st and 2nd floors as a clinic. It was acquired by the Franciscan Sisters in the Fall of 1933. [9]
