Most are scanned from microfilm into pdf, gif or similar graphic formats and many of the graphic archives have been indexed into searchable text databases utilizing optical character recognition (OCR) technology.

The collection includes editions that are in the public domain. The Collection is a project of the Cambridge Room, the Archives and Special Collections of the Cambridge Public Library, and is supported by funding from the Community Preservation Act. In excess of 650,000 articles are available.

The Boston Evening Traveller (1845–1967) was a newspaper published in Boston, Massachusetts. It was a daily newspaper, with weekly and semi-weekly editions under a variety of Traveller titles. It was absorbed by the Boston Herald in 1912, and ceased publication in 1967.
