What really hurts CMU in the ranking is selectivity though. For the 2008 list, the 2006 acceptance rate (34 %) was used. <p>I found the US News and World Report college rankings to be very helpful. Yes, there is valuable information about each school but more than that it let me know where an unknown school was in relation to schools we did have some knowledge of.</p> <p>For example, I had never heard of Northeastern until I saw it mentioned here at CC.
As of now, it is right up there at the top of the list (along with Rhodes) for my DD. We still have a few more schools to visit before she decides for sure where she plans to apply. Look at Wisconsin’s perpetually low BW rankings compared to US News and their rep. Or schools with supportive alumni bases like Notre Dame and Richmond’s ranking in the opposite manner. Not anything wrong with that. In fact, I follow BW’s more than US News. A huge part of attending a business school is the recruitment factor.</p>
