A setting of 6, probably correlates to 40% relative humidity. According to the Owners Manual. Your Aprilaire Automatic Humidifier, is a high precision system that will accurately maintain the relative humidity in your home to a maximum of 45% RH and a minimum of 10% RH. If the home is at a higher relative humidity, the unit should not come on.
I am trying to trouble shoot my Aprilaire 600. It was already installed when we purchased the house 3 years ago but I don't believe we ever turned it on after purchasing the house in the summer. The humidifier is power from the furnace and it is getting 24 V from the furnace to the humidistat. Out of the humidistat, I get no voltage going to ...
1. We had an Aprilaire humidifier (600 model) installed in a new house 2.9 years ago. About a year ago, the humidifier began leaking water all over the basement floor. This has happened 3 times with 3 visits from a heating a cooling company tech to fix the problem. We just had the biggest flood yesterday - water was literally pouring out of the ...
I have an AprilAire model 550 and started having much the same problem - water was pooling in the bottom of the humidifier housing and leaking from around the black plastic fitting that the drain tube connects to on the very bottom of the humidifier housing. I replaced the water panel annually, and the drain tube and pipe were not plugged.
1 Answer. Sorted by: Wired in this way, this should have never worked. W2 is the terminal that the thermostat uses to activate second stage heat. It is not energized by the furnace, but by the thermostat. Also, it looks like the humidistat is not wired properly. The wires from the furnace should be in the R, and C terminals.
If the 550 is like the 560, they use the furnace's blower and don't have a built-in fan. In a typical setup (at least for the 550), when the furnace is generating heat, the furnace supplies voltage to the humidifier, which may activate if the relative humidity is lower than the setting on your humidistat.
When I turn off the humidifier completely it doesn't happen at all. I thought it may be the solenoid but still scratching my head. Currently I've been turning off the humidifier at night since it's super annoying to wake up to. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix? The humidifier is the basic bypass type. The humidistat is also basic mechanical.
Look at the spec sheet or manual for your model. Look for labels on the control board, probably where the transformer lines come in. Look for labels on the transformer itself. Use a multimeter to measure between C and R terminals. Update: Since you mentioned you have a 9GMXT furnace, it has a 24VAC dedicated humidifier terminal.
Not running in auto or manual mode? humidifiers can be complex devices. first step is check power at the board and make sure you haven't blown a board fuse or a fusible link. assuming the board has power, check to see if the fan gets power when you turn on the power. if no power to the fan, and all the wires are good, then chances are the power ...
everything is great: water trickles into the humidifier as it should, no noises whatsoever. So it must be that the old valve failed. UPDATE 2021-Mar-21. Final update - to put this to bed, but to keep info for anybody in the same boat: I disassembled the solenoid valve. As @Ed Beal said, there's a slug with rubber seat on a spring and a rubber O ...
