Glendale is located along the Housatonic River. It has a post office. Glendale was once an important center of institutions of private and public education. [1] Russell Webb attended Glendale Home School. [1] In 1904, Glendale Elastic Fabric Company had plans to install new looms at its plant along the river. [2]
The home was built by deacon Joshua Brooks (1721–1790), who sold it to his son, Joshua Jr. (1755–1825), a member of the sixth generation of the Brooks family living in the area. He was a minuteman, and fought in the skirmish at North Bridge and was later a sergeant in the Continental Army. [1] Joshua Jr. had fourteen children.
It is located on North Great Road, just off Battle Road (formerly the Bay Road). [2] The house is situated near the border of the town of Lincoln, in an area that had been owned by members of his family since the mid-17th century. By the time of the Revolution, this area was known as Brooks Hill, and the cluster of houses on it Brooks Village. [3]
