The New Cathedral (German: Neuer Dom), also known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (German: Mariä-Empfängnis-Dom; Mariendom), is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Linz, Austria. The neo-Gothic church is the largest church building in Austria.

In 1841 Rome confirmed the church as the cathedral of the diocese. [2] Bishop Franz-Josef Rudigier laid the foundation stone of the New Cathedral in 1862. [2] In 1909 the function of cathedral was transferred from the Ignatius church to the new building. [6] The Jesuits returned in 1909. [1] The new cathedral was consecrated on 29 April 1924. [6]
At the base are statues of SS. Sebastian, Wencelaus and Vitus. It commemorates the plague of 1697. In gratitude for the end of the plague in 1680 at Maribor, a plague column was built in 1681, with the original being replaced in 1743. Arranged around a pillar bearing an image of Virgin Mary, are six saints, all intercessors against the plague. [9]
