The concept for Harbor Steps was conceived during the 1980s, and development and construction took place from 1990 to 2006. [10] In the 2020s, the thoroughfare was renovated, reopening in 2024. [11] Businesses that have operated at Harbor Steps include Dough Zone, [12] Lecosho, [13] Skillet, and Taqueria Cantina. [14]
The school's namesake comes from the former UPSD Superintendent George R. Curtis. The school opened in 1957 as a joint junior-senior high school at the corner of 40th and Grandview. In 1962, a high school facility was built about 500 yards east of the junior high that then extended up 40th Street.
The McGuire Apartments opened in April 2001 at a cost of $32 million, a joint venture by the Carpenters Union Local 131 and Harbor Properties. The 272-unit tower was built by McCarthy Building Companies as part of a wave of condominium and apartment development in the Belltown neighborhood during the late 1990s. [ 2 ]
The hotel, originally opened in 1900 and closed in 2008, and has now been fully renovated and opened as a low-income apartment complex called Ridpath Club Apartments in 2017. It has the distinction of being Spokane's longest continuously run hotel through those 108 years. [2] The Ridpath reopened as the Ridpath Club Apartments in March 2018.
