Alpina modified the exterior with front and rear spoilers and a four-pipe exhaust system. The facelift of the F30/F31 was also incorporated into the design of the Alpina B3 Biturbo in 2015. Both of these speculations were nullified when the car was introduced in 2007 as it utilised a modified version of the BMW N54 inline-6 engine used in the 335i. [5] The B3 was available with rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive drivetrains. The cars equipped with the all-wheel-drive (BMW xDrive) system were called Allrad.
"sDrive" for rear-wheel drive or "xDrive" for all-wheel drive. [8] Then the nominal engine size in litres multiplied by 10 (e.g. "25" for a 2.5 litre engine), although many of the anomalies described above also apply here. Lastly, "i" for petrol engines or "d" for diesel engines. Examples of this naming convention are "X3 xDrive28d" and "Z4 ...
After many years of establishing a reputation for sporting rear-wheel drive cars, BMW's first front-wheel drive car was the 2014 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). In March 2018, Daimler and BMW merged their mobility services. [19] In August 2019, Oliver Zipse replaced Harald Krüger as the head of the BMW Group. [20]
