Theodore McCallister III's mom, Claire McCallister, a babysitter has been assigned to watch over Tobey while she goes on a business trip. Unknown to her, however, he and Becky Botsford (a.k.a WordGirl) get into a battle of words in the city on a real-live match of the game show called "Crash or Pie", she believes that Tobey is cheating (saying "unsmall" is not a word).
WordGirl is stuck in jail, falsely accused of stealing the priceless collection of Pretty Princess figurines while the villains of the city are running amok. That happens when WordGirl gets cross-examined by her mom in court, but she will be able to prove her innocence, save the city from chaos, and apprehend The Birthday Girl.
When Dr. Two-Brains is about to shrink and capture WordGirl, she is able to change the size of a mouse, his plan backfires, and WordGirl becomes bigger, not smaller. Though her bigger size allows her to break free from Dr. Two-Brains, she quickly realizes that she can no longer control her superpowers.
