The Bergen County Special Services School District is a special education public school district based in Paramus, serving the educational needs of classified students ages 3 to 21 from Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Established in 1971, it was the first of eight special services districts established in the state. [3]
Three of the district's schools have been formally designated as National Blue Ribbon Schools, the highest honor that an American school can achieve: [4] [5] Paramus High School in 1988-89, Parkway Elementary School in 1987-88 and Ridge Ranch Elementary School in 1998-99.
The primary programs offered are the Bergen County Academies and Bergen County Technical High School. It has its headquarters in Paramus. [3] As of the 2021–22 school year, the district, comprised of five schools, had an enrollment of 2,449 students and 245.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.0:1. The school is part of the Bergen County Technical Schools, which also includes Bergen County Academies in Hackensack and the Bergen County Technical High School, Teterboro Campus. As of the 2023–24 school year, the school had an enrollment of 277 students and 47.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 5.9:1.

Bergen Community College is a public community college in Bergen County, New Jersey.It was founded in 1965 and opened in 1968. As of November 2021, it is the largest community college in the state, with sites in Paramus, Hackensack, and Lyndhurst and 13,352 students enrolled in degree programs, as well as approximately 5,800 in continuing and adult education programs.
