The Progressive Builders Association Building was built in 1953 and is located at 2019 E. Broadway Road. The Progressive Builders Association built homes in downtown Phoenix, giving many African Americans their first opportunity to buy a brand-new home.
Shea Homes’ parent company, the J. F. Shea Co., was founded in 1881 in Portland, Oregon by John Francis Shea. In 1998, it acquired UDC Homes, which had been the largest homebuilder in the Phoenix market and had a presence in California. [1]
In the late 1980s, UDC established a reputation in the Phoenix high-end "move-up" market for homes that backed onto golf courses, artificial lakes, and mountains.
