Baker County is a county in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,259. [1] Its county seat is Macclenny. [2] The county was founded in 1861 and is named for James McNair Baker, a judge and Confederate Senator. Baker County is included in the Jacksonville metropolitan area.
The Old Baker County Courthouse, now the Emily Taber Public Library, was built in 1908. It is at 14 McIver Avenue West in Macclenny, Florida. It was designed by Edward Columbus Hosford of Eastman, Georgia. In 1986 it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. [1]
