Asiri Surgical Hospital PLC divested its stake of 32% in Asiri Central Hospitals PLC to Asiri Hospital Holdings for LKR1.82 billion in 2012 as a part of internal restructuring. [4] Subsequently, Asiri Central Hospitals PLC was delisted from the Colombo Stock Exchange and changed its legal name to Asiri Centrals Hospital Limited. [5]

The hospital was founded in 1905 by Dr. E.V. Ratnam. It was the first privately owned hospital in Sri Lanka. Ownership was then transferred to Dr. Kumaran Ratnam, who also served as Mayor of Colombo in 1950. [2] Most recently, the hospital was owned and headed by Dr. Ganesh Ratnam, until his passing in 2018. [3]
