The metre gauge Miraj–Kolhapur railway line was opened for traffic on 21 April 1891. [1] The 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow-gauge line from Barsi Road to Pandharpur was extended to Miraj in 1927. [2] The Pune to Londa main section was converted from 1,000 mm (3 ft 3 + 3 ⁄ 8 in) to 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in) 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) broad gauge in 1971. [3]
