Richard Phillips Feynman (/ ˈ f aɪ n m ə n /; May 11, 1918 – February 15, 1988) was an American theoretical physicist. He is best known for his work in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, and in particle physics, for which he proposed the parton model.
Pictures of some physicists (mostly 20th-century American) are collected in the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives and A Picture Gallery of Famous Physicists; 20th-century women in physics in the Contributions of 20th Century Women to Physics archive

Simon van der Meer (24 November 1925 – 4 March 2011) was a Dutch particle accelerator physicist who shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1984 with Carlo Rubbia for contributions to the CERN project which led to the discovery of the W and Z particles, the two fundamental communicators of the weak interaction.
Chien-Shiung Wu (Chinese: 吳健雄; pinyin: Wú Jiànxióng; Wade–Giles: Wu 2 Chien 4-shiung 2; May 31, 1912 – February 16, 1997) was a Chinese-American particle and experimental physicist who made significant contributions in the fields of nuclear and particle physics.
Thomas Korff Gaisser (March 12, 1940, Evansville, Indiana – February 20, 2022, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania) [1] was a particle physicist, cosmic ray researcher, and a pioneer of astroparticle physics. [2] He is known for his book Cosmic Rays and Particle Physics [3] and the Gaisser–Hillas function. [4]
Researchers have used a quantum computer to uncover a mysterious particle called an anyon that appears to remember its past. Anyons were first theorised by physicists in the 1970s, with a ...
Stephen Matthew Barr [1] (born November 28, 1953) is an American physicist who is a professor emeritus of physics at the University of Delaware. [2] A member of its Bartol Research Institute, Barr does research in theoretical particle physics and cosmology.
