Brooklyn Bridge Park is an 85-acre (34 ha) park on the Brooklyn side of the East River in New York City.Designed by landscape architecture firm Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the park is located on a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) plot of land from Atlantic Avenue in the south, under the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and past the Brooklyn Bridge, to Jay Street north of the Manhattan Bridge.

Empire Stores is a former warehouse complex along the waterfront Brooklyn Bridge Park within the neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn, New York City, in the U.S. state of New York. It hosts a food hall and market operated by Time Out New York, [ 1 ] which opened in 2019, [ 2 ] as well as an art gallery called Gallery 55.
As part of the construction of Empire Stores at Brooklyn Bridge Park, BHS was selected to operate a 3,200-square-foot (300 m 2) museum to celebrate Brooklyn's industrial history. The only such New York State institution accredited by the American Association of Museums , it is one of the few globally to have a permanent collection - 30,000+ cultural objects and natural history specimens.
To highlight the Brooklyn Bridge's cultural status, the city proposed building a Brooklyn Bridge museum near the bridge's Brooklyn end in the 1970s.
