John Morris, Baron Morris of Aberavon, KG, PC, KC (5 November 1931 – 5 June 2023) was a Welsh [1] [2] politician. He was a Labour Party Member of Parliament for over 41 years, from 1959 to 2001, which included a period as Secretary of State for Wales from 1974 to 1979 and as Attorney General between 1997 and 1999. A Welsh devolution referendum was held in March 1979, two months prior. A Welsh Assembly was rejected, with regional distrust as a potential factor.

Aberavon (Welsh: Aberafan) was a constituency in Wales in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was represented from 1922 until 2024 by the Welsh Labour Party . It included the town of Aberavon , although the largest town in the constituency was Port Talbot .
