Superscan is a tool used by system administrators, crackers and script kiddies to evaluate a computer's security. System administrators can use it to test for possible unauthorised open ports on their computer networks , whereas crackers use it to scan for insecure ports in order to gain illegal access to a system.
Fast scan (nmap -F [target]) – Performing a basic port scan for fast result. Host discovery – Identifying hosts on a network. For example, listing the hosts that respond to TCP and/or ICMP requests or have a particular port open. Port scanning – Enumerating the open ports on target hosts.
ZMap is a free and open-source security scanner that was developed as a faster alternative to Nmap. ZMap was designed for information security research and can be used for both white hat and black hat purposes. The tool is able to discover vulnerabilities and their impact, and detect affected IoT devices.
(Port zero is not a usable port number.) Most services use one, or at most a limited range of, port numbers. Some port scanners scan only the most common port numbers, or ports most commonly associated with vulnerable services, on a given host. The result of a scan on a port is usually generalized into one of three categories:
netcat (often abbreviated to nc) is a computer networking utility for reading from and writing to network connections using TCP or UDP.The command is designed to be a dependable back-end that can be used directly or easily driven by other programs and scripts.
The SAINT scanner, screens every live system on a network for TCP and UDP services. For each service it finds running, it launches a set of probes designed to detect anything that could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access, create a denial-of-service , or gain sensitive information about the network.
Nagios, used to monitor hosts and specified ports for asset availability a well as full local system Monitoring. [12] OpenVas, used for vulnerability assessment and associated to assets. OSSIM also included self developed tools, the most important being a generic correlation engine with logical directive support and logs integration with plugins.
