Oranjemund is a constituency in the ǁKaras Region of Namibia. It covers an area of 4,623 km 2 (1,785 sq mi) and had a population of 9,837 in 2011, up from 7,789 in 2001. [ 1 ] The main towns are the district capital Oranjemund and the mining town of Rosh Pinah , the constituency also contains the Sendelingsdrift border post. [ 2 ]
It is now governed by a town council that has seven seats. [ 7 ] The first election run in Oranjemund was a by-election of the 2010 local authority election , 2,221 registered voters elected local authority councillors for the first time on 16 March 2012.
As of 2015 Namibia has thirteen cities, each of them governed by a municipality council that has between 7 and 15 seats. Compared to towns, cities have the authority to set up facilities like public transport, housing schemes, museums, and libraries without the approval of the Minister of Urban and Rural Development.

West of the town lies Diamond Area 1, the main diamond mining area of Namibia. Rosh Pinah belongs to the Oranjemund electoral constituency. The town is connected via road to Aus [3] and Oranjemund. Copper was discovered here in the 1920s, and German-born Jew Mose Kohan discovered zinc in the nearby Hunz Mountains in 1963.
