Lake Jocassee (/ dʒ ə ˈ k æ s i /, / dʒ oʊ ˈ k æ s i /) is a 7,500-acre (30 km 2), 300-foot (91 m) deep reservoir in northwest South Carolina. It was created in 1973 by the state in partnership with Duke Power .
Lake Jocassee is a deep man made lake which forms much of the park's southern boundary, and it is open to trout and bass fishing. The streams of Gorges State Park are all designated Wild Trout Waters. [3] Many miles of trails are open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
And Lake Jocassee wasn’t the state’s only body of water to be recognized. Lake Murray, in the Columbia area, ranked No. 2 in a separate category of nation’s best lakes for water sports.
