The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC Mysore) is a company that provides electricity to five districts in the Indian State of Karnataka. It was carved out of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited in 2005 and has its headquarters in Mysore. It is an undertaking of the government of Karnataka. [1]
In 1999, Karnataka embarked on a major reform of the power sector. As a first step, Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) was dissolved and in its place, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) was incorporated.
The power plant is operated by the CESC Limited. It was previously known as Battery Factory. The power plant had been shut down completely in 2004 due increased cost of operation. Now, it has been converted to a 132kV substation under CESC limited.
