The Great American Train Show is the name of what was, for two decades, the largest traveling model train show in the United States. The company was incorporated in 1985 and went defunct in 2006. During the 1990s, the company operated as many as 90 train shows every year in 40 different states.

Trainfest started in 1971 as a one-day show in a Milwaukee Veterans of Foreign Wars hall. [1] Today, Trainfest is a two-day event sponsored by the Wisconsin Southeastern (WISE) division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) and takes over 200,000 square feet (19,000 m 2) of the Wisconsin Exposition Center during the second weekend of November. The train consisted of 61 rail cars and 34 truck, until 2019 when the show began to only operate by trucking. [4] Rail transportation returned once again in 2024 to commemorate the 100 year partnership with the Erie County Fair. The train has now been retired as of August 2024. [5]
On Tuesday, Nov. 26 the train made several New York stops in Fort Edward, Rouses Point Junction, Plattsburgh and Port Henry, as well Franklin Park, Illinois, according to the 2024 U.S. schedule.
Later acquisitions were Mid America Shows and part of Cumberland Valley Shows. North American Midway Entertainment was acquired by Townsquare Media of Greenwich, Connecticut in August 2015.
