The Crabtree Jones House, also known historically as the Nathaniel Jones Jr. House, is a residence at 3108 Hillmer Drive in Raleigh, North Carolina.Constructed around 1808-1811 (by dendrochronological dating in 2014) by Nathaniel Jones, it is one of the few remaining large scale plantation homes in Wake County, and one of the oldest private residences in Raleigh. Wakefield is a former unincorporated community and current area within the Zebulon, North Carolina, United States town limits in extreme eastern Wake County. It is centered on Pearces Road (SR 1001) between Pippin Road (SR 2337) and Arendell Avenue , northeast of the center of Zebulon. It was annexed by Zebulon in 1997. [1]
In the early 1900s, there were 328 plantations identified in North Carolina from extant records. [ 10 ] [ 8 ] [ 9 ] The Sloop Point plantation in Pender County, built in 1729, is the oldest surviving plantation house and the second oldest house surviving in North Carolina, after the Lane House (built in 1718–1719 and not part of a plantation).
