Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (LMM) (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Luis Muñoz Marín) (IATA: SJU, ICAO: TJSJ, FAA LID: SJU), previously known as the Isla Verde International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Isla Verde), is the primary international airport of Puerto Rico serving the capital municipality of San Juan and its metropolitan area. It is by far the busiest airport in Puerto Rico, with direct connections to most major cities in the mainland United States, Latin America, Canada, the Caribbean, and Spain. Puerto Rico has 21 airports with paved runways, of which: 3 airports with more than 10,000 ft (3,048 m) of runway.

NAS San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the mid-1940s. Originally constructed by the U.S. Navy as Naval Air Station Isla Grande just prior to World War II, [5] the facility also served as Puerto Rico's main international airport until 1954, when San Juan Isla Verde International Airport (subsequently renamed Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in 1985) was built.
Puerto Rico has three international airports, the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina, Mercedita International Airport in Ponce, and the Rafael Hernández International Airport in Aguadilla, and 27 local airports. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is the largest aerial transportation hub in the Caribbean.
The airport does not accept jet aircraft, but several international flights operate from it. Most of the commercial aviation operations are domestic flights such as to Ceiba, to Isla Grande Airport in San Juan, and to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina, a suburb of San Juan. Air ambulance flights to San Juan are also available.
