St. Joseph, colloquially known as St. Joe, is a city and the county seat of Berrien County, Michigan. It was incorporated as a village in 1834 and as a city in 1891. [ 4 ] As of the 2020 census , the city population was 7,856. [ 5 ]

The Herald-Press formed in 1916 in St. Joseph from the merger of two other newspapers: The Evening Herald was the second venture of Palladium's founder, Leonard Merchant. In 1877 he moved to St. Joseph and bought an existing newspaper, The Traveler and Herald. He changed its name to The St. Joseph Weekly Herald.

St. Joseph County is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan, on the central southern border with Indiana. As of the 2020 United States Census , the population was 60,939. [ 2 ] The county seat is Centreville .
