The Macedon Ranges is a region in Central Victoria, known for its expansive native forests, vibrant arts scene, thriving food and wine industries (including weekly farmers' markets) and natural attractions such as Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon. It is located in between the cities of Bendigo and Melbourne.
Campaspe Shire Council is composed of one multi-member ward electing nine councillors. Prior to the 2024 election, it was composed of five wards (three single-member and two three-member), but the electoral structure has changed as a result of the Local Government Act 2020.
The Shire of Macedon Ranges was formed in 1995 from the amalgamation of the Shire of Romsey, Shire of Gisborne, Shire of Newham and Woodend, and most of the Shire of Kyneton. [ 2 ] The council is composed of three wards (East, South and West) and nine councillors, with three councillors per ward elected to represent each ward.
The Macedon Ranges is home to the most artists per capita in Victoria. [citation needed] Kyneton, with the beauty in the changing seasons and enthusiastic cafe culture, is a hub for artists and crafts people. Kyneton is where the annual Lost Trades Fair and the Daffodil Festival were founded.
The electoral district of Macedon is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created in 2002, replacing the abolished electorate of Gisborne . It was won at that election by Joanne Duncan , the former member for Gisborne.
Macedon (/ ˈ m æ s ə d ən / MASS-ə-dən) [2] is a town at the foot of Mount Macedon in the Macedon Ranges, between Melbourne and Bendigo in central Victoria. It is administered by the Shire of Macedon Ranges. Macedon's urban population was 2,926 at the 2021 census, up from 2,808 in the 2016 census.

Springfield is a locality in the Shire of Macedon Ranges local government area in central Victoria, Australia approximately 65 kilometres north of the state capital, Melbourne. It is within the catchment area of Deep Creek, a tributary of the Maribyrnong River.
