The 569 acre preserve in Juno Beach ranges from the Atlantic to the Intracoastal Waterway. It is the largest tract of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge in Palm Beach County. It is divided into two tracts by U.S. Highway 1. Kiosks at the entrances provide detailed information about the flora and fauna within the natural areas.

Preceding the Hotel Galvez overlooking the beach was the Beach Hotel, designed by Nicholas J. Clayton and completed in 1883. It was located on Tremont Street. The Beach Hotel was similar in style to some of the grand hotels built in the 1870s, the San Francisco Palace, the United States Hotel, and the Grand Union Hotel.
The 2,553 acres (1,033 ha) Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is located in the midsection of the Dunes Complex and includes 1.8 miles (2.9 km) of beach front. The NWR was established in 2000 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and includes some of the most remote and least disturbed habitats in the dunes complex.
