Valley of the Rogue State Park is a state park in west central Jackson County, Oregon, near Grants Pass and Medford, and is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It lies along the banks of the Rogue River , adjacent to Interstate 5 . [ 3 ]
[1] [2] In 1973, Bureau of Land Management installed interpretive signs at the site and opened the cabin to the public for self-guided tours. Because of cabin's unique heritage as the oldest surviving mining cabin in the Rogue River Canyon, the Whisky Creek Cabin was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 5 September 1975.
For thousands of years, the site that is now the Rogue River Ranch was a seasonal camp. However, it appears likely a permanent village was eventually established at the site. The Native American way of life along the Rogue River came to an end in 1856 when the native people were removed to reservations in northern Oregon. [1] [2]

The Rogue River near Indian Mary Park. Indian Mary Park is part of the Josephine County Parks system in the U.S. state of Oregon. Bordering the Rogue River, the 61-acre (25 ha) park is along Merlin–Galice Road, about 16 miles (26 km) northwest of the city of Grants Pass.
