Paper chromatography is a useful technique because it is relatively quick and requires only small quantities of material. Separations in paper chromatography involve the principle of partition. In paper chromatography, substances are distributed between a stationary phase and a mobile phase.
Paper chromatography of some spinach leaf extract shows the various pigments present in their chloroplasts: yellowish xanthophylls, greenish chlorophylls a and b. (from Botany ) Image 34 The lycopod Isoetes bears microphylls (leaves with a single vascular trace).
Paper chromatography of some spinach leaf extract shows the various pigments present in their chloroplasts: yellowish xanthophylls, greenish chlorophylls a and b. Plants and various other groups of photosynthetic eukaryotes collectively known as "algae" have unique organelles known as chloroplasts.
Planar chromatography is a separation technique in which the stationary phase is present as or on a plane. The plane can be a paper, serving as such or impregnated by a substance as the stationary bed (paper chromatography) or a layer of solid particles spread on a support such as a glass plate (thin-layer chromatography).

P.S. The only argument I want to leave here, is that when an extraction of a spinach leaf is made on chromatography paper, the green colored part contains chlorophyll. If the chlorophyll would transmit green light would we say that it is the white paper that reflects the green light transmitted by chlorophyll?
