Nantucket (/ ˌ n æ n ˈ t ʌ k ɪ t /) is an island in the state of Massachusetts in the United States, about 30 miles (48 km) south of the Cape Cod peninsula. [1] Together with the small islands of Tuckernuck and Muskeget, it constitutes the Town and County of Nantucket, a combined county/town government.
The islands of Massachusetts range from barren, almost completely submerged rocks in Massachusetts Bay (e.g. Abbott Rock, first on the list below) to the large, famous and heavily visited Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
