Uttarakhand Government Departments are the administrative bodies of the Government of Uttarakhand in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The departments grouped under ministerial portfolios headed by the members of Uttarakhand Council of Ministers. Uttarakhand has 42 state government departments. [1]

The Department of Forest of the Government of Uttarakhand is the cadre-controlling authority of the service. Along with the two state civil services which are Provincial Civil Service (PCS) and the Provincial Police Service (PPS), the PFS is one of the three feeder services to its respective All India Services .
In November 2000 when Uttarakhand was created as a new state it had inherited 13 districts. As of November 2022, no new districts have been created even though other newly created states have almost doubled the number of new districts for rapid development. The management of the wildlife sanctuary is done by the Uttarakhand Forest department. The Divisional Forest Officer(DFO) Kedarnath Wildlife Division is responsible for scientific management of the wildlife sanctuary as per the approved management plan. The headquarter of Kedarnath Wildlife Division is located at Gopeshwar, District Chamoli.
The mandate of the ICFRE is to organise, direct and manage research and education in the forestry sector, [10] including in cooperation with FORTIP (UNDP [11] /FAO Regional Forest Tree Improvement Project), UNDP and World Bank on economically important species. ICFRE established a National Bureau of Forest Genetic Resources (NBFGR).
