Sand Ridge State Forest is a conservation area located in the U.S. state of Illinois. Containing 7,200 acres (2,900 ha), it is the largest state forest in Illinois. It is located in northern Mason County .
The camp has five campsites, a dining hall, health lodge, chapel, maintenance building, trading post, field sports range, two cabins, a campfire ring, a camp master cabin and a home occupied by the full time camp Ranger and his family. Camp Soule is used for short-term camping, family camping, training, day camps and various other activities.
Ella Costner, designated by the state of Tennessee as the "poet laureate of the Smokies," was born in the area of what is today the Cosby Campground, at the base of Mt. Cammerer. In 1934, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built a camp at the base of the mountain and constructed most of the trails and overlooks in the area. [ 10 ]
There are two restroom facilities located in the interior of the campground loop. Taylor Creek, the newest of the two campgrounds, was opened in 2020. It boasts the remaining 28 sites (73-100), and offers 20-amp, 30-amp, and 50-amp electrical service, water supply, and sewer connections. There is one restroom facility located in the campground.

Schafer State Park is a public recreation area along the Satsop River located midway between Olympia and Aberdeen in the Satsop Hills of Mason County, Washington.The 122-acre (49 ha) state park offers camping, two miles of hiking trails, fishing (especially for steelhead), swimming, birdwatching, interpretive activities, wildlife viewing, and horseshoes.
