Portland International Airport is often referred to by its IATA airport code, PDX. The airport covers 3,000 acres (1,214 ha) of land. [1] [4] Portland International Airport has direct flights to cities throughout the United States and in several other countries, including Canada, Mexico, Germany, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Iceland.
It is the only airport on the Oregon Coast with passenger service. North Bend/Coos Bay is served by United Express which flies nonstop to San Francisco International Airport (since about July 2008); before the SFO flights, United Express flew OTH to Portland International Airport non-stop. This ended on February 16, 2012. [3]
Portland, Oregon-based commuter air carrier Air Oregon began serving the airport in the late 1970s and by 1981 was operating Fokker F27 Friendship and Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner propjets on flights to Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Sacramento, Reno, Eureka, Redding, Medford, Redmond, Pendleton, and North Bend.
