José Manuel Torres Félix was born on 3 September 1958 in the town of Llanos del Refugio in Cosalá, Sinaloa. [5] [6] He had worked for the Sinaloa Cartel since 1990, but ascended to a high-ranking position after the capture of his brother Javier Torres Félix in 2004.
