Scotland Tonight is a Scottish news and current affairs programme, covering the two STV franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland, produced by STV News.The programme is presented by STV News at Six Central anchor John MacKay on Mondays & Tuesdays and former Sky News Scotland correspondent Rona Dougall on Wednesdays & Thursday.
STV News Tonight was produced and broadcast from Glasgow using STV's resources from across Scotland and the UK and international resources of ITN. [6] The half-hour programme, launched on Monday 24 April 2017, was presented by Halla Mohieddeen and aired each weeknight at 7 pm on STV2.

On 8 January 2007, Scotland Today launched a sub-regional news service, allowing viewers in the west and the east of central Scotland to receive a dedicated bulletin within the main 6pm programme. In the west, the programme covered from Tobermory to Falkirk, with the presenter based in the main Scotland Today studio in Glasgow.
In September 2018, STV relaunched their flagship 6pm news programme for the Central Belt of Scotland. [4] The new format combined the existing Edinburgh and Glasgow programmes into one co-anchored programme that contained sections that contained opt-outs for the East and West regions, mixed with sections that were co-anchored from both locations with links being shared by both presenters.
