Exaggeration is the representation of something as more extreme or dramatic than it is, intentionally or unintentionally. It can be a rhetorical device or figure of speech, used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression.
For example, consider the following English sentences: "I know you're coming." "I know that you're coming." In this construction, the conjunction that is optional when joining a sentence to a verb phrase with know. Both sentences are grammatically correct, but the word that is pleonastic in this case.
Paraprosdokian: A sentence or phrase with an unexpected twist or surprise at the end. Paroemion: alliteration in which nearly every word in a sentence or phrase begins with the same letter. Polyptoton: repetition of words derived from the same root. Polysyndeton: close repetition of conjunctions.
The sentence can be given as a grammatical puzzle [7] [8] [9] or an item on a test, [1] [2] for which one must find the proper punctuation to give it meaning.
