The 2024 Australia Cup Final was an association football match played between A-League Men sides Melbourne Victory and Macarthur FC at AAMI Park in Melbourne on 29 September 2024 to determine the winners of the 2024 Australia Cup. [2] It was the ninth Australia Cup final and the 42nd final of Australian soccer's primary cup competitions.
Melbourne Victory Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in Melbourne, Victoria.Competing in the country's premier men's competition, the A-League Men, under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL), [9] Victory entered the competition in the inaugural season as the only Victorian-based club in the newly revamped domestic Australian league.
Melbourne Victory, as a result of finishing third, were required to play in the elimination final against Melbourne City in a Melbourne Derby, the first meeting to be played in a finals series since 2015. [18] The match ended in a 3–2 penalty shoot-out win for Melbourne Victory after a 1–1 scoreline in regular time on 5 May. [27]

The match was the second of three scheduled Melbourne Derbies to be played that season, with Melbourne City being the designated home team for this match; the previous derby, a designated Melbourne Victory home game, ended in a 2-0 victory to Melbourne City.
