South East Essex Academy Trust Opened in 1913 as a mixed school with Infants, Senior Boys and Senior Girls departments. In 1953, the senior boys were transferred to Fairfax Mixed Senior School, while the girls transferred from Fairfax to Westborough, with the senior school renamed Westborough High School for Girls.
The trust was established as the South Eastern Health and Social Services Trust on 1 August 2006, and became operational on 1 April 2007. [4] In July 2021, the trust announced the appointment of Roisin Coulter as its next chief executive.

A hospital school, also known as home and hospital education (HHE), [1] [2] is a school operated in a hospital, generally a children's hospital which provides instruction to all primary and secondary grade levels. These schools help children regain academic progress during periods of hospitalization or rehabilitation.
In 2017, there were 12 hospitals affiliated with the school. [4] The clinical placements are served in general practices and teaching hospitals throughout the south-east, including many in Kent, and all Sussex hospitals, such as the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Medical students have General Practice placements in years 1, 2, 4 and 5 .
