The story follows a group of students at Fujimi High School: Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, Saeko Busujima, Saya Takagi, and Kohta Hirano; Shizuka Marikawa, the high school's nurse, and a young girl as they fight their way to safety through the deadly streets of Japan during a worldwide catastrophic event known as the "Outbreak".
Takashi and Saeko acquire an amphibious vehicle to help evade the zombies and set up on a sand bank in the middle of the river. Later, they ditch their vehicle in a park fountain to lure the zombies while Saeko attacks them. However, Saeko freezes when she comes across some zombie children, forcing Takashi to help her.
Written by Daisuke Satō and illustrated by Shōji Satō, Highschool of the Dead started in Fujimi Shobo's manga magazine Monthly Dragon Age on August 9, 2006. [4] The manga went on hiatus from 2008 to 2010, but after March 2011, only one more chapter was released on April 9, 2013.

Beginning in 2004 as a one-man unit covering songs from different series, more members joined in 2007, and in 2010 the band made their major debut with the single "Highschool of the Dead", used as the opening theme of the 2010 anime television series of the same name.
He wrote the story for his manga Imperial Guards (with illustrator Yū Itō) and Highschool of the Dead (with illustrator Shōji Satō). Imperial Guards was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2007 and for the first Manga Taishō in 2008. [3] [4] He died on March 22, 2017, from ischaemic heart disease. [5]
