Mawa Railway Station is a B class railway station on the Dhaka–Jessore line located in Medinimandal Union of Lauhjong Upazila in Munshiganj District of Dhaka Division, Bangladesh. [1] The station is located at the northern end of the Padma Bridge.

[1] According to the 2014 report, this train is most popular among passengers as it takes less time to reach Dhaka from Gazipur than the N3 highway. [2] It was earlier an express train. It was converted into a commuter train on 21 October 2023 as decided by the authorities. [3]
Dhaka–Jessore line is a 172 km long broad gauge railway. It was being constructed under the Ministry of Railways, Government of Bangladesh.The line connects the capital of Bangladesh to Jessore via Dhaka District, Narayanganj District, Munshiganj District, Shariatpur District, Madaripur District, Faridpur District, Gopalganj District, Bangladesh, and Narail District.
In the first phase, a 172 km broad gauge railway line is being constructed from Dhaka's Kamalapur to Jessore in the southwestern district. The rail link project is scheduled to be completed in 2024. From December 2022, trains have been running on the 51 km railway from the stations of Mawa to Bhanga. [2]

Shortly after the arrival of DEMU trains from China, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Narayanganj Commuter service at Kamalapur railway station on 24 April 2013. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The train service was suspended on 4 December 2022 for work on the Dhaka–Jessore line and resumed on 1 August 2023 after work on the Dhaka section.
