Once he regains consciousness, Vegeta goes Super Saiyan 3 and swiftly overpowers the Tamagami into submission. To earn the Dragon Ball, the Tamagami shows a word problem about an individual giving away biscuits before asking Vegeta how many the snake in the story ate at the end.
When creating Vegeta, Toriyama originally intended for him to be a short-lived antagonist and second-tier character, with little influence to Dragon Ball's story. Toriyama intended for Goku to simply kill him at the climax of their first battle, and portrayed him as simply and one-dimensional as he should have been considering this.
Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Bulla all try to fight Goku, but Baby calls them off. Baby tries to convince Goku to join him as another Tuffle. When Goku refuses, the Tuffle parasite insists on destroying him instead. Goku powers up to Super Saiyan 3, but finds that with his new body, he can't reach his full power, or defend himself as well.
He fights Vegeta where his lava-spewing abilities started to heat up the ring. After breaking the barrier, Vegeta recovers from the overheating and knocks Auta Megetta out of the ring. In the Tournament of Power, Auta Magetta helps Frost attack Vegeta and Master Roshi. Vegeta manages to knock him out of the ring after insulting him.
While Super Buu is distracted, Dende heals Tien. After Goku finds Vegeta, Goku tries to convince him to fuse, but Vegeta is angry at Goku because he knows Goku was holding back his Super Saiyan 3 transformation when they fought. With Vegeta refusing to cooperate, they are forced to take on Super Buu as individuals, but are clearly outclassed.
The series begins with a flashback of the destruction of Planet Vegeta at the hands of Frieza, and the upbringing of Goku on Earth as depicted in the original Dragon Ball series. Five years have passed since Goku's victory over Piccolo at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, and he has since married Chi-Chi and now has a son named Gohan.
