Club Deportivo Universidad Católica, known as Universidad Católica, is a professional football club based in Santiago, Chile. Founded in 1937 they play in the Primera División, the top flight of Chilean football. The team has played its home games at Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo since 1988.
In 1993, Universidad Católica was the runner-up in the most important international tournament in South America: the Copa Libertadores de América, losing in the finals against the biggest club in Brazil and defending Libertadores' Champion São Paulo.

[2] He coached the team from 1935 to 1938. [3] In 1940, he was appointed to be the manager of the Club Deportivo Universidad Católica in Chile. [4]
Nicknamed El Tamarindo, he was one of the first Salvadoran players to play abroad, playing for Universidad Católica in Chile. He also played club football for the now defunct C.D. 33 in the Primera División de Fútbol de El Salvador winning the 1937 and 1938 league titles with them. [1]
