This is a list of nations that are represented by lacrosse national governing bodies. This list indicates which countries have participated in the five international lacrosse competitions sponsored by World Lacrosse , which oversees international lacrosse.
World Lacrosse (WL), formerly the Federation of International Lacrosse, is the international governing body of lacrosse, responsible for the men's, women's, and indoor versions of the sport. It was established in 2008 by the merger of the previously separate men's and women's international lacrosse associations. [ 2 ]
The ILF merged with the women's governing body in 2008 to form the Federation of International Lacrosse, which changed its name to World Lacrosse in 2019. [ 2 ] The United States has won the championship most titles in eleven times. [ 2 ]
The Nationals placed fourth in the 1998, 2002 and 2006 World Lacrosse Championships and third in 2014. The indoor team won the silver medal in all four World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. In 2008, the Iroquois women's team was admitted to the FIL as the Haudenosaunee Nationals.

The United States men's national lacrosse team has won eleven of fourteen World Lacrosse Championships, the most recent in 2023. Team USA finished second in the other three field lacrosse tournaments, losing to Canada in 1978, 2006, and 2014. The team is organized by US Lacrosse, the national governing body.

The ELF is an affiliate member of the lacrosse world governing body, World Lacrosse . 21 ELF members are full members of the WL, which is the majority of all full members.
