The archbishop of Westminster heads the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster, in England. [1] [2] The incumbent is the metropolitan of the Province of Westminster, chief metropolitan of England and Wales [3] and, as a matter of custom, is elected president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, and therefore de facto spokesman of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

On 24 November 2015 Wilson was appointed an Auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Westminster and Titular Bishop of Lindisfarne by Pope Francis. He was ordained to the episcopate by Cardinal Vincent Nichols on the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul, 25 January 2016. He had pastoral care of the deaneries in the western area of the diocese.
Vincent Gerard Nichols (born 8 November 1945) is a Roman Catholic British prelate who has served as Archbishop of Westminster since 2009. He was the former Archbishop of Birmingham from 2000 to 2009 and is the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.
