The Kansas Jayhawks softball team represents the University of Kansas in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks are currently led by head coach Jennifer McFalls. The team plays its home games at Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park located on the university's campus. [2]
In addition to the private universities and colleges, the conference also included Kansas State Agriculture College (now Kansas State University), the University of Kansas, and Washburn University. In November of that year, the first college football game in Kansas was played between the Kansas Jayhawks and Baker University. [1]
Kansas State's men's basketball team began competition in 1902. The program has a long history of success. The first two major conference titles captured by the school were won in the sport, in 1917 and 1919, in the Missouri Valley Conference. Kansas State has gone on to capture 19 major conference crowns in the sport.
The two largest associations are the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) also feature community colleges with softball programs as members.
Debbie Nichols won her 140th career game defeating the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns 3-1 on April 7, 1990, besting Rhonda Wheatley's original record. Courtney Blades passed Nichols for her 150th win pitching a perfect game against the Arizona Wildcats at the Women's College World Series on May 25, 2000. [106]
