Multiplaza del Este (Eastern Multiplaza), now Multiplaza Curridabat is a mall built between August 2002 and October 2003 that belongs to the commercial chain with the same name and have other malls in Central America. It has food court, cinemas and stores.
The first Multiplaza mall opened in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 1990 as part of the expansion plan Grupo Roble. Additional Multiplaza locations opened in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, in 1995, Costa Rica (in Escazú in 1993), [ 1 ] and Panama (in Ciudad de Panamá in 2004). [ 2 ]
Local landmarks in the canton include the Costa Rica Country Club, the Multiplaza Mall, and, more recently, Avenida Escazú. These new complexes hold some of the world's most luxurious brands in Multiplaza Mall. Escazú is also home to several diplomatic missions, including the residence of the Ambassador from the United States.
Despite closing its 6,000 m 2 store at Multiplaza San José Costa Rica, Carrión expressed an intention at the time to expand in the country [4] and did eventually open a new store in Alajuela in 2015. [1] The company later pulled out of the Costa Rica market, [4] and its unique location in Honduras closed in 2019. [5]
On November 6, 2008 opened its third store in Guatemala City, located in Zona 10 in the Oakland Mall. In the same month, is opened a branch in the Metrocentro Managua Shopping mall in Nicaragua. Later expands in 2009 by opening operations in Costa Rica in the newest Mall of Grupo Roble, Multiplaza in the city of Escazu in the capital San Jose. [10]
